The Influence of Roman Architecture on Modern Design.

Roman architecture is most recognized for its mastery of the dome, vault, and arch structural methods. Greek architecture and sculpture, as well as Etruscan art and design had an influence on it. Temples, auditoriums, monuments, bridges, drainage systems, and other infrastructure were all created by Roman architects mostly out of concrete, aiding in the development of new towns.

The influence and impact of Roman architecture is seen worldwide, whether in the designs for large, imposing buildings, or in the infrastructure that supports almost every city in the world. Below are some examples on the influence of Roman architecture on some of the most popular tourist destinations in modern day.

Parco della Musica.

Architect: Renzo Piano

This music complex, which opened in 2002, is presently Europe's and the world's most popular music venue after Ny York's Lincoln Center. It was constructed by renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano and is situated next to the Olympic Village at the base of the Parioli neighborhood.

Currently, it is Europe's largest music-focused facility. The building includes three performance rooms that resemble futuristic bugs and are popularly known as "the blobs," "the computer mice," and "the turtles."

The structure's ultra-modern design harmoniously combines with the historical significance of the travertine marble and Roman bricks employed in its construction.

The Italian Civilisation Palace.

Architects: Giovanni Guerrini, Ernesto Bruno Lapadula and Mario Romano

Also recognized to as the "Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro" or, in humor, the "Colosseo Quadrato," or the Square Colosseum. It is situated in EUR, a fascinating area to explore in Rome. Esposizione Universale Roma, or EUR for short, is the name of the region that Mussolini had constructed to host the 1942 World Fair in honor of the twentieth anniversary of fascism. Due to the outbreak of World War II, the fair was never held, and now EUR is regarded as Rome's commercial area.

Today the building belongs to the well-known fashion house, Fendi.

The White House.

Architect: James Hoban

Roman influences on the White House are clearly visible in the arches and Roman-style columns on the outside of the structure.
